United Methodist Women

 

United Methodist Women (UMW) is an organization dedicated to fulfilling the spiritual fellowship and service-oriented needs of Christian women.  At the Lincoln UMC, the UMW holds monthly meetings in the Social Hall on the second Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise designated;  social time starts at 9:30am with the meeting starting at 10:00am.  You do not have to be a member of the United Methodist Church to be a part of this organization.  We welcome you and urge you to visit one of our meetings!

Throughout the year, the UMW at Lincoln UMC sponsors several events and fundraisers. In 2016, these events will include:

  • Annual Chili Cook-off - February 27
  • St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner - March 17
  • Fashion Show and Luncheon supporting the nonprofit Assistance League of Greater Placer - May 14
  • June Church Rummage and Vendor Sale - June 18
  • Fall Food, Craft and Vendor Fair - October 29
Special events in 2014 included:
  • Heartsongs: Later Life Planning: Full day workshop with Rev. Dr. Judith Pruess-Mellow and Jacqueline Finley on topics for seniors and for those with older loved ones. March 2014. This workshop was funded by a grant from the Beulah Foundation of the United Methodist Women.
  • Mary: Matriarch of Faith: Women's full-day mini-retreat with Rev. Susan Kopp. May 2014
 
PURPOSE OF THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is:
  • to know God
  • to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ
  • to develop a creative supportive fellowship
  • to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the Church.
